Adopt-a-Family (AAF) Christmas Program

The Adopt-a-Family Program assists low-income and ALICE household families in need during the holiday season by providing food and toys to families.  Individual, group, and corporate sponsors can adopt up to 5 children in the household ages 0-17 for Christmas, provide monetary, or in-kind donations of food items to help families have healthy meals as well.  When an Adopt-A-Family match is made with a sponsor, the family's information and blessing lists are sent to the sponsor, along with the AAF overview resource. Sponsors also have an option to sign-up for the school-year adoption portion of the program, which aims to support children of families in need, with school supplies and clothing throughout the school year.

Adopted families are often referred by other families who have benefitted from the program in prior years, school counselors, in response to program communications or from a search on our website.

Sponsors often work with groups such as their family members, work team, etc. to purchase gifts for children in adopted families and/or food items and delivers gifts and food items to EFCS for our volunteer team to bag and wrap gifts and distribute gifts and food to families.  Elms Family and Community Services' community engagement and volunteer services team ensures that adopted families receive food and gifts one week before Christmas.
